Although I didn’t finish a full-marathon as I originally had set out, I finished two half marathons (which is the equivalent to running a full marathon right??
) in under a month after training for 4 months prior to running them. After putting a lot of thought into it, after starting back in end of December 2007 and getting injured in February 2008 (without doing my research on proper running form, technique, equipment), I took a break before having another go at it.
Things quickly turned around and I did things the “right way” this time by picking up Running Injury free, recommended to me by my close friend Beverly, and signed up for a Running Room half marathon clinic.
Through my training, I had learned and cultivated the habits of consistent action, discipline, which fell into place with approach in life I had adopted from Tony Robbin’s philosophy of “Constant and Never Ending Improvement”.
By Oct. 19, 2008 this year, I had run two half marathons, the Scotiabank Waterfront Toronto Half-Marathon and the Toronto Half Marathon with my official chip time being 1 hr 59 min 28 sec and 1 hr 52 min 2 sec respectively.
Running a marathon is a great metaphor for life. As cheesy as it sounds, for me, life is a never-ending marathon (until you die), so you should attack it by living consciously with love, discipline and passion.
